19th August 2008

We had a quiet day today.

Prue did some washing and numerous other little jobs as well as wrote some post cards.

During the morning, I did a few little maintenance jobs around either the Bravo or Karavan. There were just little things that needed to be done. Later in the morning, I did a massage and that was about it until after dinner. Just some resting and reading as well as relaxing.

We drove to town beach to watch the ‘Staircase to the Moon” again. While there we linked up with Wes and Vicki that we had originally met way back at Mataranka. Also, there we met Wes’s brother, Ian and his wife, Jen. They are all travelling together.

The ‘Staircase to the Moon” was a better display than the previous night mainly due to our location. We moved a little further to the south which gave a longer length of the moon light on the mud flats. It really does look spectacular. Again the markets were operating and there were a lot of people around to view this phenomenon.

This caravan park would have to be the most overpriced location we have stayed in. The charge is $32.00 per night. One issue is that the sites are on very red Kimberley dirt and most have no grass. We do have power and reasonable water. The ablution block consists of 4 shower stalls and similar for the toilets, separated for both males and females, plus a 2 stand unisex toilet with a basin. Another of the issues is that to empty our Karavan toilet, we have to take the cassette into the BP garage in Broome town. If you complain, they just say to you “You can go and find somewhere else!” Sadly, there is really no other caravan parks much better and some even worse. They take your money but put nothing back into the infrastructure of the caravan parks. The mentality of the town seems to be to grab the tourist dollars while they are here. In other words, Caveat Emptor-let the buyer beware!
